New Year Happy Time :D

No work 'til Friday!

Tai convinced me not to go in during the break, even though I could get SO MUCH WORK DONE WITH NOBODY THERE O___O But I guess it's good to spend some time at home with family ...and clean (although you're supposed to do all that before the new year, 'cause it'll 'sweep out the good luck' if you do it after. But you're always super-busy gettin everything done beforehand so that you can go on vacation for a week, so it really doesn't make much sense. I compromised and didn't start cleaning 'til today.)

In any case, check out this cute notebook Tai picked up for me!

I love the Engrish!

丼家 Donburi (Rice bowl)

You can get just the rice bowl or a set meal, which comes with side dish, pickles, dessert, and soup or fountain drink (refillable). There are daily specials for cheaper.

Location: Right across the street from MRT Houshanpi exit 3.

Price: $$ of 5
Vegan/Vegetarian option available -- although the side dishes sometimes have seafood.

Vegetarian Set. It's the tomato one (there's only one). The savoury egg custard had shrimp in the bottom, which I'm okay with, but make sure to ask for a substitute if you're vegan. You can't see the pickles 'cause I ate them already :) The mochi is pretty tasty for standard fare.

The grilled fish single order. You get the whole fish, which is a LOT of protein. @_@ It does come with bones, so be careful! It was a bit too dry for my tastes, but I'm happy it came with the pickles and lime.

Chicken-onion-egg set. According to Tai it was a soggy disappointment. I ate his pickles, which were delicious :)

Their chicken-katsu is very good, and that's what Tai gets whenever he goes. It's about NT$130 as a set, if I recall correctly.

Their tonkatsu is purportedly delicious as well.
