鳳梨酥 Pineapple Gateau

Imagine a cuboidal pastry comprised of crumbly fragrant buttery crust encasing a toothsome filling of sticky pineapple cooked from whole fruit grated and reduced slowly to preserve its heavenly flavour.

I have no idea where it came from or who came up with it, but it is delicious and I love it and I love being able to get it at pretty much any bakery worth its salt (and there are quite a few). The cheap versions with fake pineapple filling can be yummy too :)

A Famous Purveyor of These Treats

I ate two of them today, and even though my tummy is a little upset, it was worth it.

Breakfast Shop

New Taipei City, Xindian District, Sanmin Rd. across from 全連Chuan-Lian grocery.

Make sure to get the fat ones; though they are curiously sweet on top ^^

Fabric District

So I didn't actually get any pictures of fabric, but this bowl of soup we got was across the street from an enormous indoor fabric market. <- link to the approximate location :)

There was a guy selling maltose pops and sandwich crackers in front of the indoor fabric market. Tai got a kitty-cat pop and Gracie got a set of 3 sandwich crackers (not shown) in different flavours: peanut, milk, and seaweed. They were all very tasty!
